Field Trips for Littles

Our Field Trips for Littles give children a hands-on introduction to farm life.

 

Designed for young learners, these half-day experiences (9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.) include guided walks through the cow pastures, chicken coops, orchard, and garden with lessons on soil health, animal care, and where real food comes from.

Overview

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Cost: $20 per student (includes lunch)
Leads: John & Betty, with assisting teachers
Optional: Bible Study led by Youth Pastor Joshua (upon request)

Timing

9:00 – 9:15 a.m. – Arrival & Welcome

Students check in with teachers and farm staff.

Quick safety overview and introductions to the day’s activities.

Meet the Animals

Guided visit to the cow pastures and chicken coops.

Learn how animals help fertilize and regenerate the land.

​

Orchard & Garden Walk

Explore the orchard and vegetable garden.

Discussion on soil health, composting, and why the farm avoids synthetic chemicals.

​

Hands-On Learning

Q&A with John and Betty.

Interactive demonstration (ex. collecting eggs, planting seeds, or compost turning).

​

Farm-Fresh Lunch

Seasonal, homemade meal served on-site.

Teachers should share allergy information in advance.

​

River Play (Weather Permitting)

Supervised free time near the live water area.

Bring water shoes if desired (not provided).

​

Wrap-Up & Departure

Group reflection and optional short Bible study (if requested).

Clean-up and goodbyes.

Rules & Reminders

Permission slips are required for all students.

Appropriate attire: closed-toed shoes or boots, long pants, and modest playwear.

No outside food, fast food, or sugary drinks allowed.

No costumes or clothing that restricts movement.

Allergies: teachers must notify Betty in advance.

River play: swim or wade at your own discretion; covered by waiver.

Supervision: teachers and chaperones must remain with their groups at all times.
